Mike Weaver and I (Dennis Quaintance), formed this company in April of 1988 and opened our first restaurant in Greensboro in June of 1989. We started the company because we are good friends and want to be in business together and because we believe that providing the services embodied in our mission will result in a successful company.
We are partners. I play point with the operations of the company and Mike helps and contributes in all matters. Mike is a great guy and I admire his business ability, ethics and success. He is chairman of Weaver Investment Company and does a lot of volunteer work.
I started as a housekeeper's assistant when I was fifteen at a hotel in Missoula, Montana. I worked my way up. I was assistant general manager, rooms and food & beverage director of a hotel in Richland, Washington. I went on to work with four and five star hotels and restaurants to broaden my experience. I played the role of general manager of a great restaurant for three years and regional manager for a full-service chain for three years. I chose my career focus early and am fortunate to have worked in every job function in both hotels and restaurants. Email Me
Nancy King Quaintance also started her career at 15, but as a dishwasher with Disney in Florida. She went on to Cornell's Hotel School and worked in sales and front office operations for several major hotel companies. She studied hospitality and the culinary arts and was a food and beverage teaching assistant while at Cornell. She joined QWRH in 1994 and now plays roles on our marketing, operations and culinary teams. Email Nancy
Jim Slowin joined our team as a service staff member in August of 1989, after graduating from the University of Iowa. He has contributed significantly to our team's performance through the years, and he now plays the roles of Vice President of QW Restaurants and Operating Partner at Green Valley Grill. Email Jim
Bart Ortiz worked with us as a line cook in 1990 while in college. Then he went off to Indiana University and taught for a while, before he returned to our team. He is now a Vice President of QW Restaurants, plus the Chef and Operating Partner of Print Works Bistro. Email Bart
Will Stevens joined our company in 1997 after having a successful FBO Airport operation. Will worked as a porter and in other hotel and restaurant jobs as he was coming up. He finished his MBA at UNCG just before joining us. He is Vice President of Operations for QW Hotels and leads the Quaintance-Weaver Management team. Email Will
